Do all teachers speak English fluently?
While native English speakers are a plus, our summer school teachers must have a high level of English proficiency, along with strong teaching experience and skills. We take pride in the fact that most of our teachers are multilingual, fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment where students from various linguistic backgrounds feel supported.
In addition to their language abilities, our teachers are highly qualified and experienced in their respective fields, ensuring exceptional educational quality. We believe that a diverse and skilled teaching staff is key to creating a successful and enriching summer school experience for all students.

Will there be an English proficiency test?
We do not conduct English proficiency tests for summer school applicants—these tests are only required for students applying to Fukuoka International School (FIS) for the regular school year.
For summer school, we expect students to have at least basic English communication skills. This program provides an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their English-speaking abilities while being immersed in a multicultural and international learning environment.
Our Summer School has successfully operated this way for years, with skilled teaching assistants, office staff, and volunteers available to support students who have limited or no English proficiency in expressing themselves.
