Fukuoka International School is accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education as a School Juridical Body, "Gakko Hojin".
INTERNATIONAL Baccalaureate (IB)
Fukuoka International School was authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme(DP) since 2007 and the Primary Years Programme(PYP) since 2014. FIS is the first school in Kyushu to become an IB World School. In 2018, FIS will become a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Western Association of schools & colleges
It is also accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), which is the official accrediting body for American Overseas schools in East Asia and the Pacific Area. In August 2007, FIS received official authorization from the International Baccalaureate Office and now offers the IB Diploma Program.
Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS)
The Japan Council of International Schools (JCIS) includes twenty-seven international schools operating in Japan. However, each school exists completely independently of the others.
JCIS exists to promote, support and sustain quality English medium schools serving the international community in Japan through an educational framework which is international in both style and substance.
East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS)
The East Asia Regional Council of Schools is an organization of 158 member schools in East Asia. These schools have a total of more than132,000 pre-K to 12th grade students. EARCOS also has 170 associate members— textbook and software publishers and distributors, universities, financial planners, architectural firms, insurance companies, youth organizations, etc— and over 35 individual members.
Membership in EARCOS is open to elementary and secondary schools in East Asia which offer an educational program using English as the primary language of instruction, and to other organizations, institutions, and individuals interested in the objectives and purposes of the Council.
