Becoming responsible digital citizens
We learn about, and incorporate technology in the classroom to enhance the academic experience and teach our students to be responsible digital citizens.
Our technology use policy is robust and based on best practices from schools around the world to ensure that technology is used safely and respectfully at FIS.
Elementary School
A number of iPads are provided in Elementary classrooms and from Grades 3-5 each student is provided with a personal Chrome Book.
Our teachers use SeeSaw to communicate regularly with parents, keeping them updated on the things that have been happening in the classroom. Managebac is used for reports and grading, making it easy for parents to track their child's academic progress. Parent-Teacher Conferences are held three times throughout the school year and provide a great opportunity for parents to meet with their child's teacher face-to-face to discuss individual learning goals.
Secondary School
Students are required to bring their own devices in the Secondary School. Students and teachers use the Google Suite daily (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Classroom, etc.) to communicate and collaborate. ManageBac is used for reports and grading allowing parents and students to track progress. Parent-Teacher Conferences are held three times throughout the school year and provide a great opportunity to discuss individual learning goals.
