FIS uses a rolling admissions policy, however, spaces are limited. An admission application can be accepted at any time during the school year, up until early April.

When they are three years old, provided they are toilet trained. 

We are an inclusive school and do not require a pass/fail admissions test. However, for placement purposes only, students whose home language is not English must take an English language placement assessment and all students from G3 and above are required to complete a MAP (math and reading) assessment. Students who are Grade 2 and below will undergo a short observation.

An applicant and their parent(s)/guardian(s). If possible, we like to meet with all parents/guardians in the admissions interview.

Yes! We encourage all potential applicants to have a school tour before applying. Please book a school tour.

Although English proficiency is not required for pre-kindergarten students, a certain level of English proficiency is necessary for both Elementary and Secondary students. An English proficiency test may be required based on Head of School’s discretion. If an applicant's English level does not meet the accepted level for their grade, the student will be supported by our ELL program after enrollment.

Yes, we accept students of all nationalities and a number of FIS students are Japanese nationals. Please be aware that Japanese Compulsory Education Law states that Japanese national students in Grade 1 through 9 are expected to attend a Japanese school. Some exceptions are allowed but require special procedures - please contact our Admissions Office for further information.

No, we don’t. Expatriate students must have a dependent's visa to apply for our school.

No, unfortunately we are unable to offer a bus service. Students in lower grades must be escorted by their parent(s)/guardian(s) to and from school.

Yes, FIS has an optional school lunch service available through Cezar's Kitchen. Cezar's offer an international menu with many healthy choices.

Yes! We have a huge variety of after-school activities available for students of all ages as well as seasonal athletics clubs (volleyball, basketball, football and badminton) for middle school students and above.

The school day finishes at 3:20 and there is no supervision for students after this time.

In the elementary school, the school day runs from 8.30am - 3.20pm. In the secondary school, the school day runs from 8.10am - 3.25pm.

We have a compulsory PE sports shirt only. We also have a range of other optional uniform items (hoodies, fleeces, house t-shirts, sports shorts and tracksuit pants) available for purchase through our online uniform store. Our house t-shirt is not compulsory, however from time to time students will be required to wear their house colors to a school event. Many of our students choose to purchase, and wear, an FIS house t-shirt.

Our staff are from all over the world! We're really proud of our diversity at FIS and value the different experiences, backgrounds and views that each member of our community brings. We attend international job fairs each year (in Australia, Asia and the UK) to seek out excellent teachers who embody and embrace our guiding statement and learning philosophy.

We are an inclusive school that does not have a pass/fail admissions test. If we believe that a student can be successful within our programs, then we will offer admission. In some cases, if a student presents with a learning difference that may affect their ability to be successful at FIS we might ask for additional admissions information. We expect families to share all the information that they have so we can reach the right decision together. We want to make sure that every student that we admit is set up for success. In some cases, we might advise families that this is not the right school for them based on what is best for the student.

We have small class sizes and a high teacher to student ratio (in the elementary school this is about 1:7).

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a series of high quality, challenging educational programs for students aged 3 to 19. All of the programs focus on fostering critical thinking and building problem-solving skills, while encouraging diversity, international mindedness, curiosity, and a healthy appetite for learning and excellence. At FIS we offer all three of the IB programs for a cohesive IB education experience.

Our students mainly go abroad for higher education.

We take child protection and safeguarding extremely seriously at FIS. All of our employees undergo extensive pre-employment checks before they begin their employment. You can read more about our Child Protection and Safeguarding practices here.

We are a small school with a close-knit community and our parents are regularly on campus. The easiest way for parents to get involved is through our wonderful PTA!

The parking lot on our premise accommodates 30 cars.

It is important that at least one parent/guardian is able to function with some English language as all communication from FIS is in English. After enrollment, our bilingual school staff are able to provide some level of translation support to families. If FIS parents/guardians are interested in improving their English, they are able to enroll in English classes taught through our community English conversational school, FICS.
