Some community members at the Spring Festival

Our community is at the heart of our school

Our dynamic and diverse community is made up of over 350 students and their families, alongside more than 60 international teachers and support staff.

As a small school, our community is deeply connected - often forming strong bonds that last well beyond the school experience. Within our student community we are proud to have representation from over 30 different nationalities, as well as 16 nationalities represented across our staff faculty. We enjoy celebrating and incorporating aspects of our many nationalities throughout the FIS experience. We're proud of our strong and diverse community and the lasting impact it has on our students' lives.

FIS’s community-oriented learning environment, the dedicated teachers and staff, and the school spirit in general are an asset to the international community and to Fukuoka.  Our family will remember the fun of the festivals, the cultural celebrations that highlighted every culture represented at FIS, and new initiatives such as the school lunch program.

Our Families

When we accept a student into our school, we're accepting their entire family into our community. Our parents are regularly on campus and parent involvement is encouraged at FIS. Many of our parents are also part of our PTA executive and administration team: an association centered around encouraging a spirit of cohesiveness.

Meet the Team

Our Alumni

After leaving FIS, our students take off around the world and go on to do some incredible things. Many of our students are accepted into highly esteemed colleges and universities. We value our connection with our alumni and encourage our former students to keep in touch (and to visit us when they are next passing through Fukuoka)!
