Welcome to the Fukuoka International School website. We hope you find the site useful whatever your circumstances are: as a family transferring internationally or a member of the local and international community or an educator looking at international school opportunities.

The mission statement of Fukuoka International School describes the profile of students that we are trying to develop: students who are academically highly successful and who therefore can pursue their further education in top universities and colleges around the world. In order to ensure this, FIS hires teachers who can guide and inspire students through a process of enquiry based learning so as to fully develop their critical thinking skills. These skills are extremely necessary to equip our young people for success in their future life in our increasingly globalized society.

Beyond the academic, we look for opportunities to develop our students as well-rounded individuals who have a strong sense of self worth and respect for others and who can be positive forces for good in our communities. In order to achieve our mission statement we adopt the curriculums of the internationally recognized and rigorous International Baccalaureate organization.

We offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in grades 11 and 12 and are currently a candidate school introducing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP).
