The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) offers three educational programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme(DP) for students aged 3 to 19.These programmes are designed to help students develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are more than 3,000 IB World Schools in over 140 countries with about 890,000 students aged 3 to 19 years old.

Fukuoka International School was authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme in 2007. FIS is the first school in Kyushu to become an IB World School. IB diploma candidates must complete all requirements in all areas to receive the IB diploma. Worldwide, about 80% of students who attempt to obtain the IB diploma are successful. Everyone who has taken the exams at FIS in the last two years has been successfully awarded the diploma.
FIS is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme working toward its authorization in the near future.
