Full-time Teachers
Selection of Criteria for full-time teachers:
1. Hold valid teaching certificate in their respective field(s)
2. Possess at least two years of full-time teaching experience (English conversation teaching/Peace Corps/Intern experience do not count)
3 .Possess a philosophy of education committed to the education of the whole child
4. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and an adaptive, flexible perspective on life
Overseas Hire definition:
Applicants whose residence is outside of Japan and who have been recruited for the express purpose of employment at Fukuoka International School regardless of nationality.
Local Hire definition:
Applicants who already reside in Japan regardless of nationality.

In order for non-Japanese teachers to work legally for FIS, they need to obtain a ‘Permit To Engage In Activity Other Than That Permitted By The Status Of Residence Previously Granted’ issued by the immigration office. This permit will usually allow non-Japanese teachers to work up to 28 hours per week. Expatriate teachers with a Japanese spouse can work without the permit.

Contracts
Initial contracts are for two years. After the initial contract, basic term of contract is two years.
Salary
The salary range for teachers is 3,180,000 yen to 5,600,000 yen depending on years of experiences and graduate credits earned.
We have 11 steps and 3 columns in BA/BS degree and 16 steps and 3 columns in MA/MS degree and 1 column in Ph.D. degree on our salary scale.
Allowances

One way economy travel cost from point of hire to Fukuoka (airfare/Shinkansen train for employee and 50% contribution for dependents
Shipping up to 200,000 yen
Furnishing allowance: 300,000 yen
Resettlement support (temporary accommodation)
Support for obtaining a working VISA to teach at FIS for full-time teachers and their dependents residing with them.
